Why you should visit Antisamos beach
In stunning Kefalonia, there’s no shortage of beautiful beaches for all the family to enjoy. Visitors can take their pick from secluded coves and hidden bays to action-packed water sports beaches – there’s a beach to suit all tastes. Here’s a closer look at one of Kefalonia’s favourite beaches for swimming, sunbathing and water sports, Antisamos.
Situated around 30 kilometres from Argostoli and within easy reach of Sami, Antisamos beach is a visual treat for the eyes. Lush green hills surround the pretty bay, where turquoise waters lap at a lovely stretch of pale golden sand and locals hurry to tell you how several scenes from the film “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin” were shot here. Hidden behind one of the hills, a secret cove can be found for sunbathers who wish to retreat to a little haven of peace and quiet, while swimmers and water sports lovers can enjoy the clear crystal waters on the main beach.
Agrillion Monastery gazes down over the bay from its hillside perch and welcomes visitors to its cool interior when sunbathing becomes too much. Alternatively, have a bite to eat in the cosy beach bar while drinking in the gorgeous sea views.
